Svenska Kryssarklubben

24-timmarssegling

In English

24-timmars (24-hours) is a time limited distance rally which, since 1945, is arranged by Svenska Kryssarklubben (Swedish Cruising Association). The races are encouraging seamanship, navigational training and cruising trimand are open to all sailors who fulfill specified demands on boat, crew and equipment.

During a 24-hours rally the sailors lay out their own courses based on the prerequisites the weather, the boat and the crew offers. As long distance as possible shall be sailed during a predefined time period. The further away a rounded mark lies the greater the race. Good seamanship and the safety of the crew are not to be neglected!

Sailed distance accumulates fromrace to race and engraved plaquettes in different values are given when longer distances are collected. The longer distance sailed, the more experience of sailing, planning, navigation boat handling and sailing during night the owner of this book will hold.

The rules for the 24-hours rally have been laid out by the board of the 24-hours sailors and have been authorized by the board of Svenska Kryssarklubben.
